Endorsement Process
How does SEIU select the candidates we endorse?
SEIU endorses candidates who support Unions for All, a minimum of $15 an hour for all workers, guaranteed quality, affordable healthcare and long-term care, bold action for climate and environmental justice, protecting and advancing democracy for all people, and ensuring that immigrant families are welcome, safe, and free.
Why did SEIU endorse President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris?
SEIU leaders voted to endorse President Biden for re-election because he has consistently and strongly backed workers fighting for our unions.
Voting
Is my vote really important?
Your vote is your voice!
Use it to demand Unions for All.
Why is voting important for service and care workers?
Working people are strongest when we join together and speak with one voice. That’s why our movement is uniting workers, from coast to coast, across industries, across race to win Unions for All.
What are the key issues that affect service and care workers, and how do I find out where candidates stand on these issues?
Across the country, workers are exercising their power like we haven’t seen in years—going on strike, winning historic contract victories, demanding the right to form unions, and insisting on a racial reckoning. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, care workers have risen up to say,
respect us, protect us, pay us!
How can I encourage others to vote and support the Unions for All agenda?
Be an example! Show your support by voting in every election, and share the news that an election is coming up! Talk to your coworkers, friends and family about how important it is that they also vote and let their voices be heard.
Why is it important to vote all the way down the ballot?
What happens on a local level impacts what happens to us on a national level. Every election matters, and every vote matters.
What happens if I encounter issues at my polling place or with my ballot?
Report issues at your polling place or with your ballot at 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683).
How can I make a plan to vote?
Making a plan to vote is easy and starts with ensuring you’re registered to vote. Then figure out if you want to vote by mail, vote early, or vote on Election Day.
How can I vote by mail, and how does it work?
Check to see if your state offers mail-in ballots first. Voting by mail is safe AND convenient, and you won’t have to worry about standing in line on Election Day to ensure your voice is heard!
Is voting by mail safe? How will I know they’ll count my vote?
Voting by mail is safe, convenient, and a great way to ensure that your voice is heard in this election! You can track your ballot using its tracking number.
Unions for All Agenda
What is the Unions for All agenda, and why is it important?
Unions for All is about being united in our demand that every worker —no matter what they do, what they look like, or where they’re from—has a voice in their workplace and in their government. You can find more information about our Unions for All agenda at https://unionsforall.org
What specific policies or initiatives are included in the Unions for All agenda?
What four things does the Unions for All agenda involve doing?
- Bringing employers, workers and government together at industry-wide bargaining tables to negotiate wages, benefits, and working conditions.
- Establishing the Federal Labor Law as the floor rather than the ceiling for laws governing worker organizing, allowing states and cities to empower workers to join together in a union beyond the limits of federal law.
- Ensuring that every public dollar is used to create good, union jobs and that every federal worker and contractor makes at least $15 an hour and has the opportunity to join a union.
- Putting good union jobs at the center of any major economic proposal
How does the Unions for All agenda propose to make it easier for working people to form unions?
We need to shift the balance of power away from corporations and toward those of us doing the work. That’s why we’re calling for support for Unions for All. Workers with a union have the strength and power to demand change.
Do workers in all industries really need a union?
Corporations and the politicians they bankroll have rigged the system against working people. To fight back, we must rewrite the rules and win Unions for All.
