Endorsement Process
How does SEIU choose who to endorse?
SEIU endorses candidates who support our goals for #Unions for All. They must promise to fight for strong unions, a $15 minimum wage, affordable healthcare, child care, long-term care, climate justice, democracy, and the safety of immigrant families.
Why did SEIU endorse Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz?
SEIU supports Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz because of their long history of fighting for working families. Vice President Kamala Harris has stood with workers, fought to make home care, child care, and nursing home jobs good union jobs, fought for safer nursing homes, defended reproductive freedom, supported humane treatment of immigrant workers and families, and created green union jobs.
Voting
Is my one vote important?
Yes, your vote is your power and your voice. When working people vote together, we win together.
Why is voting important for service and care workers?
Working people are strongest when we are united. Voting helps us win unions and democracy for all.
What are the key issues that affect service and care workers, and how do I find out where candidates stand on these issues?
Check SEIUVotes.org to see where candidates stand on issues important to us.
How can I encourage others to vote and support the Unions for All agenda?
Be an example! Vote in every election and talk to your friends and family about the importance of voting. People are more likely to vote when someone they know asks them to. Talk to your network about why you are voting, and encourage them to get registered to vote or check that their registration is up to date.
What is the impact of voting on a national level? Aren’t the most important decisions that affect my life made locally?
Voting in every election is important. What happens on a national level can impact what happens on a local level, so we can’t afford to sit out on any election.
What happens if I encounter issues at the polling place or with my ballot?
You can report issues at your polling place or with your ballot at https://866ourvote.org.
How can I report instances of voter suppression or other barriers to voting in my area?
We all deserve a safe and fair election, which means being able to vote. Report any voter suppression or any other barriers to voting in your area at 866-OUR-VOTE.
How can I make a plan to vote?
Making a plan to vote is easy! https://seiuvotes.org/act can help make sure you’re registered to vote. Then, figure out if you want to vote by mail early or on Election Day.
How can I vote by mail, and how does it work?
Follow the instructions on https://seiuvotes.org/act. If your state offers vote by mail, voting by mail is safe AND easy, and you won’t have to worry about standing in line on Election Day to ensure your voice is heard!
Is voting by mail safe? How will I know they’ll count my vote?
Voting by mail is safe, convenient, and a great way to ensure that your voice is heard in this election! You can track your ballot using its tracking number.
What is the roadmap to citizenship for new American immigrants?
Around 9 million green card holders can apply for U.S. citizenship. Their naturalization could significantly impact future elections and lead to major policy changes that benefit workers and communities.
