Why I'm Serving

Angie Nixon

“Being an elected official I am now able to have a seat at tables where many in my community haven’t been allowed to sit. I can push back against the status quo and offer different viewpoints to the conversation and illustrate the need for change. It also means I have an immense responsibility to ensure I’m educating my community on policies that are impacting us. My membership in a union influences me to keep working class families at the forefront of my mind when I’m crafting legislation and when I’m voting on bills. I make sure I always vote in a ways that positively impact labor and working families.”
