Our democracy is at stake. We’re prepared to defend it. Voting rights organizations have identified risks to the 2026 election, including efforts to restrict voting access, disrupt the election, and intimidate voters.
Our voices, our votes. Our democracy belongs to us. Working people can prepare by knowing our rights, getting accurate information from trusted sources, and making a plan to vote. By standing together, we can ensure every eligible voter can cast their ballot, knowing it will count.
HOW CAN I DEFEND THE VOTE
Working people are getting ready to defend the right to vote and ensure that every ballot is counted.
WHAT RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE TO ME?
We have resources to help you understand potential election disruptions, know your rights, how to prepare, and know what election protection hotlines are available to call. This includes research on election risks and where to anticipate disruption, guidance on what to do if federal agents show up to your polling location, and how to prevent and respond to voter intimidations, as well as de-escalation and bystander intervention tools.
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AT THE BALLOT BOX
Know your rights before you vote.
Remember:
- every eligible voter is entitled to safely participate in the election and have their ballot counted.
- It is illegal for anyone to try to stop you from voting.
- Check your state’s voter ID requirements and your polling location before you go, and remember:
- if you’re in line when the polls close, stay in line.
- You’re allowed to vote as long as you’re in line when the polls close!
- If you’re told you can’t vote, try to resolve the issue before leaving your polling place.
- It’s best if you vote a regular ballot, and you should ask about your options before casting a provisional ballot. Cast a provisional ballot only if you have no other option; be sure the poll worker gives you information on how to follow up to find out if your provisional ballot was counted.
If you experience voter intimidation, threats, false information, or other problems at the polls, call the nonpartisan Election Protection Hotline at 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683) for help.
